Russian Online Blitz Grand Prix Open!

The Russian Chess Federation, together with the ChessOK Playing Zone, invite you to an online blitz chess tournament, with the participation of leading world chess players!

Qualifying Tournaments Schedule 1st qualifying tournament – June 3, 2012. 15-00 UTC – see results; 2nd qualifying tournament – June 24, 2012. 15-00 UTC – see results; 3rd qualifying tournament – July 1, 2012. 15-00 UTC – see results; 4th qualifying tournament – July 29, 2012. 15-00 UTC – see results; The qualifying tournaments are over. 44 players have qualified, including 38 Grandmasters, 5 International Masters and 1 FIDE Master. The Final and Super Final tournaments The Final Tournaments of Online Grand Prix Open 2012 took place August 14. 4 groups of 12 players each participated. Best 2 players from each of the 4 groups made their way to the Super Final Tournament of August 15, where they will compete for the grand prize. Finalists and their respective score (max 11, winners passing to the Super Final are in bold)): Group 1: 1. Volkov – 7.5; 2. Amonatov – 7. 3-4. Pridorozhnyi, Zhigalko – 6.5 each; 5-6. Papin, Smirnov – 6 each; 7-8. Ponkratov, Kharitonov – 5.5 each. 9. Rahmanov – 5; 10. Kiselev V.– 4.5; 11-12. Mischyk and Kovalev V. – 3 each. Group 2: 1. Andreikin – 10.5; 2. Kovalenko – 8; 3. Khismatullin – 7; 4. Fedoseev – 6.5; 5. Yudin – 6; 6. Turov – 5.5; 7-8. Korobov, Badmacirenov – 5 each; 9. Zinchenko – 4.5; 10. Kharchenko – 4; 11-12. Grischenko, Khasangatin – 2 each. Group 3: 1. Grishuk – 9; 2-3. Safarli, Deviatkin – 8.5; 4. Bocharov – 7.5; 5. Panarin – 6.5; 6-7. Azarov, Schaposhnikov – 5 each; 8-9. Galkin, Onischuk.V – 4.5 each; 10. Linchevsky – 4; 11. Kononenko – 2; 12. – Liascovich Lucas – (could not participate). Group 4: 1. Zubov – 9; 2. Andriasian – 8.5; 3. Grigoryan – 7.5; 4-5, Bukavshin, Sjugirov – 6.5 each; 6-7. Terry, Vovk – 5.5 each; 8-9. Timofeev, Guseinovr – 5 each; 10-11. Kokarev, Ovetchkin – 3.5 each; 12. Dlugy – (could not participate).The Super Final Tournament of Online Grand Prix Open 2012 took place August 15. 8 players competed for the grand prize in a knockout tournament. The quarterfinal featured the following matches: Volkov – Safarli 0,5:3,5; Zubov – Kovalenko 3:1; Andreikin – Andriasian 2,5:1,5 and Grischuk – Amonatov 2,5:2,5. The semifinal results: Grischuk – Safarli 1,5:2,5 and Andreikin – Zubov 3:1. After 4 games of the final match between Eltaj Safarli and Dmitriy Andreikin resulted an a draw (2:2), an armageddon game was used as a tie-breaker. The game ended in yet another draw, and Dmitriy Andreikin – who played as Black and with less time – won the Super Final Tournament of Online Grand Prix 2012. 2. OrganizersThe competition is organized by the Russian Chess Federation (RCF). The competition is conducted and regulated by the Panel of Judges headed by Arbiter Tkachev A. V. (МА). The competition takes place at the ChessOK Playing Zone Internet portal. 3. ScheduleThe qualifying tournaments for the Russian Online Blitz Grand Prix Open 2012 will be held on the first and the last Sundays of June and July:
The Final Tournament (in 4 groups) will be held on the 14th of August, 2012:
The Super Final Tournament will be held on the 15th of August, 2012, at 15-00 UTC. 4. Competition SystemThe competition will be held in three stages:

Deciding the winners, prize fund, prize distribution.The prize fund for the competition is provided by the RCF and equals to 1 280 000 Russian roubles (including the taxes). The prize fund is distributed between the participants of the Final and Super Final tournaments. The winners of the Russian Online Blitz Grand Prix 2012 are decided based on the results of the Super Final tournament, with no regard to the results of the qualifying and Final tournaments. The terms of prize payment are further detailed in Supplement 2. 6. Russian Online Blitz Grand Prix Open 2012 participation requirementsTo participate in the qualifying tournaments, a player has to follow the rules listed in paragraph 7 of this Regulation and be a member of the Chess OK Playing Zone for the period of the Russian Online Blitz Grand Prix Open 2012. To become a member one should do one of the following:
