The 4th season of the ICCF Champions League has ended. Almost 200 teams from all over the world took part in it this season. And for the first time, the team of our site ChessOK.com participated in the competition. We played in one of the 4 groups of League B, fighting our way into League A featuring the world’s 13 strongest teams. Even in League B, the overall level of players was extremely high. Teams in our group featured finalists of the World Correspondence Chess Championship, 3 Grandmasters and 22 International Masters.
Modern correspondence play includes heavy use of chess analysis software and databases. The ChessOKcom team relied on a program of its own design – Houdini Aquarium. In addition to game database management, Houdini Aquarium has IDEA, a unique analysis algorithm perfectly suited for correspondence play. The use of Aquarium and IDEA is the formula of our team’s great success: not only we took the first place in our group and made our way into League A, we were also the strongest among the 52 teams of League B! Even more, our players never lost during the competition, winning 16 games and drawing 32! We also won three 1st places and one 2nd in the individual classification.
The next, 5th season of the Champions League starts in October, and our team will play in its main tournament. 
The 7th Tal Memorial takes place in Moscow June, 7 – 18.

Levon Aronian plays Vladimir Kramnik in a 6 game match in Zuerich 21st-28th April 2012. The contest will be played at a Classical Chess time-control to be employed in the next Candidates tournament, with 40 moves in two hours, 20 moves in one hour plus 15 minutes and an increment of 30 seconds per move for the remainder of the game. Game 1 Saturday 21st April 2012 at 2pm BST 3pm CET.
